Whatley & Darty Commercial Real Estate was founded in October, 2001 by Kenny Whatley and Lan Darty, two experienced commercial real estate agents, in Dothan, AL. The newly-founded company quickly obtained a substantial share of the commercial property listings in the area. An expansion was made by the Company into the Panama City, Florida market in early 2005 with the opening of Whatley & Darty Real Estate & Development, LLC in Panama City Beach. The Florida company has been a leader in marketing resort development properties and also lists and sells residential and commercial properties. Kenny Whatley subsequently acquired Lan Darty’s interest in both businesses.
The Company has been innovative in its approach to marketing, being the first in the area to extensively use the various tools available through the Internet on its own and other real estate websites and links. He has done several market studies in the DeFuniak Springs and Crestview areas and has listings in Bay, Gulf, Franklin, Walton, Okaloosa, Holmes, Washington, Jackson and Santa Rosa Counties in Florida and in all the counties in Southeast Alabama, including Houston, Geneva, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Pike, Henry and Barbour Counties. Past market studies include determining the need for a type property in an area and finding potential users of the properties as well as assessing the potential value of the properties. Data is gathered from numerous sources and based on real life results in the areas where the data was acquired. The Company also manages a large portfolio of commercial properties for area clients.
